Welfare Officers

Safeguarding children is an integral aspect of the Respect Programme. It is about raising awareness of Best Practice and ensuring that bullying, verbal, emotional and physical abuse is not tolerated in football.

Club Welfare Officers should be aware of the Respect programme and ensure that all club members are adhering to the programme.

The Club Welfare Officer Should:

  • Promote the Respect Programme ensuring all club members are aware of the measures to create a positive environment.
  • Help club members understand the importance of adhering to the Respect programme and working towards Best Practice.
  • Ensure that club spectators are implementing and using the Designated Spectator Areas properly.
  • Report any behaviour that contravenes the Codes of Conduct to Cath Morton, County Welfare Officer.

A League Welfare Officer Should:

  • Promote the Respect Programme to all clubs
  • Attend Club/ League meetings in relation to Respect
  • Offer advice and guidance to Club Welfare Officers and Match Officials
  • Ensure there is a reporting system in place to support Match Officials and clubs
