The 11 a-side Game

In line with The FA’s National Game Strategy and their 11-a-side Campaign, Derbyshire County FA are looking to support, develop and sustain the adult game within the County.

Nationally –

Over the last decade the 11-a-side game has declined.
People stopped playing for a number of reasons such as;

  • poor behaviour,
  • lack of referees,
  • leisure and work patterns,
  • increasing cost of pitches,
  • quality and access of facilities,
  • lack of volunteers
  • having the opportunity to play small-sided football.

• Although it is recognised that 94% of adults enjoy playing to keep fit and the social aspects of the game.

• Many adult players believe that there should be more support to school leavers to continue playing.

Half of current adult players would like more information on local clubs and teams.

Derbyshire County FA Aims;

  • Increase awareness of the decline in adult 11-a-side football.
  • Gain feedback from local clubs, players and coaches.
  • Educate and inform clubs about what help and support Derbyshire County FA can offer.
  • Raising the profile of The FA Charter Standard Club scheme, funding opportunities, recruitment ideas etc.
  • Promotion of Adult CS Clubs through our website and flyers.
  • School Club Links
  • Educational Course/ In-service Training
