Get Into Football - Derby City

What is the Get into Football programme?

The Get into Football programme is a national programme launched by the Football Association with the aim to increase adult participation (16+) by 20,500 players playing football at least once a week by March 2013.

The post has been funded through Sport England’s Whole Sport Plan, The Football Association and Derby City Council.

Based at the City Council the Get into Football Officer will deliver on the City’s ‘Get into Football Plan’ which includes the following areas:

• Develop programmes to grow 11v11 open age male and female football
• Development programmes to grow small sided male and female football
• Manage and support the transition of youth players to open age football
• Identify gaps in football provision within the City
• Provide more flexible formats of football

The Get into Football Officer for Derby City is Marc Birkett who comes to the role with previous experience in the Football Development world. Marc will look to build on already established links with Derbyshire County FA to ensure the programmes he delivers are sustainable and coincide with the County FA’s National Game Strategy.
To ensure you are kept up to date with all the new Get into Football initiatives contact Marc to be placed on the Get into Football mailing list.
