Coach Mentoring Scheme Launched

The East Midlands Female Coach Mentoring Scheme was launched on Saturday 19th April. The first event took place at Dayncourt School in Nottingham with over 60 female coaches attending from across the East Midlands.

The scheme is being co-ordinated by the Girls’ and Women’s Football Development Officers from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire and has been structured to improve coaches’ planning, organisation, knowledge and delivery of sessions in order to fully enhance their coaching skills, for the benefit of the groups they work with.

The programme is being delivered in the format of five mentoring days that will be hosted by each one of the East Midlands Counties.

Each event will be delivered by FA-qualified coaches and tutors and will incorporate a blend of practical and theoretical sessions designed to develop coaches’ knowledge and confidence in the delivery of their sessions and also to prepare them for attendance on their next chosen football coaching course.

Guest coaches at the launch included U17 England Coach Lois Fidler, A-Licence coach Jane Haslam and Level 3 coaches Sarah Green and Gemma Grainger, who is one of The FA Skill Coaches.

The event was also attended by England Women’s international Katie Holtham, who will be playing for Leeds United in this season’s Women’s FA Cup Final.
