The funding boost will allow these 6 FA Charter Standard Clubs to continue its growth and development programme, and help to create a sustainable future.

The introduction of new teams from U7’s level will assist in feeding players up to the higher age groups as they progress through their club. The award will also go towards the recruitment and training of new volunteers to fulfil coaching and administrative roles.

Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government via Sport England, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity. Since the Foundation was set up in 2000 it has worked closely with the Derbyshire FA to support 123 grassroots sports projects across the county with grants worth £7.7m. These grants have attracted further partnership funding of £6.6m into the area’s grassroots.

Liam Rooney, Senior Football Development Officer, said: “This grant will help these 6 FA Charter Standard Clubs in Derbyshire to develop the next generation of footballers and will help towards the training of volunteers who want to develop their coaching expertise. It will also help the children to develop their skills and knowledge about the game and will greatly assist in moving the 6 FA Charter Standards Clubs forward and continue to raise their standards for all their players and managers.””

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “Credit should go to all the 6 FA Charter Standard Clubs and the Derbyshire FA for securing this Grow the Game funding. The Foundation’s Grow the Game grant scheme is giving crucial financial support to grass roots clubs across the country, enabling them to provide new footballing opportunities for boys and girls of all ages, and significantly increases football participation.
