Womens and Girls Football

At Derbyshire County Football Association, our main aims are to provide more opportunities for girls and women to get involved with football in the County, whether that be in a playing, coaching, officiating, volunteering or administrating capacity.

Derbyshire FA has a Women and Girls Football Development Officer, Angie Harper who is working to develop the female game in the county.

Her work extends to supporting and enhancing existing provision of football in Schools, Junior Football Clubs, Local Authority Sports Development Sections, Football in the Community Schemes and other key deliverers and providers relative to Derbyshire.

A priority is to ensure sustainability within the sport and to ensure that there is always an exit route for those engaged in football. This is done by work in the following key areas:

  • School development and school-club links
  • Club development
  • Centre of Excellence
  • Open Age Women’s football development
  • League development
  • Inclusion work
  • Increasing the profile of women and girls football throughout the county

Derbyshire FA are now running a Women’s County Cup for Open Age teams.  The first Cup was held in 2011-12 season with 18 teams entering the tournament.
