Derbyshire U18 Still Searching for First Point

MIDLANDS COUNTY YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sunday 7th December 2014
Northamptonshire County FA v Derbyshire County FA
Bugbrooke St Michaels FC

Derbyshire's visit to Northamptonshire was on a very cold day, and following overnight rain the playing conditions were wet and uneven.

The game started very lively with Northamptonshire forcing three corners within the first few minutes, they were unlucky not to take the lead.

On the 10th minute Derbyshire's Thomas Gillott was injured when making a vital tackle on the edge of Derbyshire 6yd box, and took no further part in the game.

From the resulting corner Northamptonshire where again denied going in front when two goal bound efforts hit the woodwork and were then cleared by the Derbyshire defence.

15 minutes later Northamptonshire had the best chance of taking the lead when Jordan Orosz from 6yds out from goal shot wide of the upright.

Northamptonshire got their reward for all the pressure they had put on the Derbyshire defence when on the 35th minute James Hill-Seekings drove home from close range.

Derbyshire started to get more involved and may have pulled the goal back when Matthew Mowles' fine cross was allowed to be cleared by the Northamptonshire defence.

HT 1 - 0

Derbyshire were having more of the play in the second period and on the 65th minute thought they had pulled the goal back, when from a Derbyshire free kick, Michael Jukka poked the ball home only to be judged offside.

15 minutes later Jukka made a good run down the left, went past two defenders, played a neat one two with Stuart Skill, only to see his final effort sail over.

Northamptonshire finally sealed the game when James Hill-Seekings slotted home to make the final score 2 - 0.

Both Mark Rathbone in Goal and Oliver Cox in defence shone for Derbyshire.
