During October, Derbyshire FA invited children to draw a picture that was related to football or respect and enter a competition for their drawing to be turned in to a poster that will be used across Derbyshire to signpost Safeguarding in clubs, and league facilities.

An impressive 231 drawings were received, which were shortlisted to 14, and then children from Howitt Primary School were invited to pick their top 4. The winning design was drawn by Lucas Elliott, age 8 who plays for Borrowash Victoria Juniors. Lucas’s brilliant drawing has now been turned in to a poster signposting anyone with safeguarding concerns to key contacts in Derbyshire.

The other winners were:
2nd Place- Eva (Albany Junior School)
3rd Place- Destiny  (Ashbourne Primary School)
4th Place- Darcey (South Normanton Colts)

Cath Morton, Welfare and Respect Officer said “There was a wonderful response to our poster competition, Derbyshire FA did not expect to receive so many brilliant drawings, and even though 4 winners have been chosen- we will showcase all the drawings in our offices. Lucas' picture has been created into a poster signposting anyone with concerns to key safeguarding contacts - his drawing will have an impact on helping people in football across Derbyshire,”
