The Derby Junior Football League Management Committee are looking for new members due to an increase in teams

Due to the rapid growth of teams over the last few years the League are encouraging new members to join the Derby Junior Football League Management Committee to ease the burden on the current League Committee and also to further develop the league as it continues to provide for football for the U7 - U12 age groups.

All the members on the Management Committee have done an amazing job volunteering to develop mini soccer and youth football across the City of Derby.

All fixtures are played at central venues, which are hosted at Alvaston Park, Lees Brook Community School and The Racecourse. The Derby Junior Football League currently has 63 clubs, 340 teams and 4,117 players across the U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 and U12 age groups. The figures are absolutely amazing and that is down to the dedication of the DJFL Management Committee who give up their own time to ensure the league is organised as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The Derby Junior Football League was the first League in Derbyshire to be awarded FA Charter Standard League Status in 2009; they successfully renewed their status in 2012 and more recently in 2016. The Derby Junior Football League Committee was awarded FA Charter Standard League of the Year for Derbyshire in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015.

The current Derby Junior Football League management committee is as follows:

Ian Birley - Chairman & Matchday Coordinator.
Steve Nicks - League Secretary.
Tommy Weightman - Treasurer, Matchday Coordinator & Fixtures Secretary U9/U10/U11.
Mike Torrance - Registrations Secretary & Fixtures Secretary U12.
Rob Priestley - Press Officer.
Lynsey Parker - Welfare/Respect Officer & Matchday Coordinator.
Sue Fleming - Matchday Coordinator.
Claire Brandon - Fixtures Secretary U7/U8 & Matchday Coordinator.
Richard Eaton - Referees Secretary.

All of the individuals above have done a fantastic job over the years developing mini soccer and youth football in Derby City, however the whistle has blown and a few members of the current committee will be stepping down from their roles at the end of the 2018/19 season, so the league are encouraging new volunteers to come forward and take on these roles in order to keep developing the league.

If you are interested in becoming a committee member on the Derby Junior Football League please contact Liam Rooney, Football Development Officer at Derbyshire County FA via email liam.rooney@derbyshirefa.com or 01332 361422.
