This year we received an unprecedented amount of nominations for the Grassroots Football Awards, and we’re delighted that so many people wanted to show their gratitude to the people that make grassroots football in Derbyshire so special.

After careful consideration last week, a judging panel sifted through the nominations and decided on this year’s winners – which we are excited to announce to you now.

So, here are the winners in each category for the 2019 Grassroots Football Awards!

• Grounds Team of the Year – South Normanton Colts FC Grounds Team
• Rising Star of the Year – Declan Fox
• Grassroots Club of the Year – SK Vipers FC
• Grassroots Project of the Year – Glossop North End AFC Juniors and Ladies
• We Only Do Positive Respect Award – Codnor Boys FC
• Grassroots Match Official of the Year – Lauren Whiteman
• Grassroots League of the Year – North Derbyshire Youth Football League
• Volunteer of the Year – Claire Brandon
• Coach of the Year – Elizabeth Pacey

Congratulations to all of the winners, and we’d like to say thank you for being the #GrassrootsHeroes that inspire Derbyshire every week.

More information regarding the awards ceremony will be released very soon, and we can’t wait to see you there for what should be a fantastic evening!

While these 10 winners were absolutely superb, it would be unfair to forget about some other people, clubs, leagues and projects that have also been doing excellent work across the county over the course of the last 12 months.
