Update: County Cups 2020/21

The Derbyshire FA have given an update regarding their County Cup competitions for the 2020/21 season.

With the delayed start to the 2020/21 season as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, fixture lists are set to be more congested, therefore the Derbyshire FA have made the decision not to run their nine County Cup competitions this year.

Ricky Stevenson, Chief Executive Officer at the Derbyshire FA, said: “We’re obviously disappointed to be making this decision because of the amazing competition and tradition offered by County Cups, but we do believe it to be the right decision in these extraordinary circumstances.

“COVID-19 has had an extreme impact on grassroots football in both the short and long term, and for the upcoming season the cup competitions would have resulted in an extremely congested fixture list for many clubs.

“We will take this break in the footballing calendar to plan the County Cup schedule for 2021/22, and hopefully we can make it the best season ever.”
