Match Report: Long Eaton Utd 1-0 Mickleover

Long Eaton victorious in Senior Challenge Cup Third Round.

Ben Hutchinson’s strike from distance the difference as Long Eaton progress in the Derbyshire FA Challenge Cup after 1-0 victory against Mickleover.

 

It was a strong start from the hosts, as debutant Riley Philips cut inside and shot towards the near post with the chance being blocked by Phil Watt.

 

Long Eaton took the lead in the 20th minute, through a long range effort from Ben Hutchinson that struck the crossbar and bounced in.

 

Mickleover responded to going behind, as Kai Moore played the ball to Oliver Greaves whose shot from distance was fired just wide of the right post. 

 

The first chance of the second half came for Long Eaton’s Tom Marshall whose free kick towards the near post was saved by Oliver Bosworth.

 

Mickleover had the opportunity to equalise through substitute Andy Dales, but his shot from the edge of the box was blocked by Tyreece Robinson.

 

The chances kept coming for Mickleover, as a ball played by Laken Osideko was found on the penalty spot by Greaves, with his attempt being stopped by a sliding Marshall for Long Eaton.

 

After a quiet second half, the game finished 1-0, meaning Long Eaton United are through to the Fourth Round of the Derbyshire FA Senior Challenge Cup.
