Derbyshire Sport Funding Update - August 2017

Here are the latest updates from Derbyshire Sport regarding funding schemes that are currently available to clubs, organisations and projects in…

1)      Sport England Funding to Tackle Inactivity and Economic Disadvantage to be launched 29th August

Further details about this new round of funding are now available.

2)      WHSmith Community Grant – 30th September

Voluntary organisations, charities, schools and pre-schools can apply for grants of up to £500.

3)      Club House building available for a club or community group!

Aston on Trent Bowls Club are getting a new club house and are looking for a new home for their old building. It will be available from the end of September.

4)      LTA makes biggest-ever investment in grassroots tennis facilities

Projects to be supported include covered courts, floodlights, online booking and entry systems, and clubhouses and social spaces linked to courts and clubs will also be refurbished.

5)      Funding available through Table Tennis England’s Satellite Club programme

Table Tennis England is inviting clubs to apply for grants of up to £850 to develop new and creative sessions for young people aged 11-18.

6)      Does your sports club or organisation need up to £10,000? 

This is a reminder about Sport England’s Small Grant programme which supports revenue projects up to £10,000 focused on people who are 14 years and older.

7)      Healthy North East Derbyshire Small Grants Scheme

Open to voluntary / community groups or even a group of local people within the North East Derbyshire District Council area, who come together to support the health and wellbeing of their community. Grants are up to £3,000. Applications should be submitted by Thursday 31stAugust 2017.

8)      Chesterfield Health & Wellbeing Partnership Small Grants Scheme

Open to voluntary / community groups or even a group of local people within the Chesterfield Borough Council area, who come together to support the health and wellbeing of their community. Grant funding of up to £1,000 per applicant is available. Applications should be submitted by Thursday 31st August 2017.

9)      Better Derbyshire Dales Fund

Groups in the Derbyshire Dales can apply for a grant of up to £1,000 for revenue costs or £5,000 for capital costs. Groups must have a turnover of less than £50,000 per year. The next deadline is Friday 3rd November.

10)   Mental Ill Health ‘5 Ways to Well Being’ Small Grants – Erewash

This fund has two grants available; a simple application form for groups wanting to apply for up to £500 and a detailed application form for groups wanting to apply for a grant between £501 and £2,000. The closing date for all applications is Monday 14th August 2017.

11)   High Peak Small Grant - 5 Ways to Wellbeing

Organisations operating in the High Peak with an annual turnover of £50,000 or less can apply for a maximum of £2,000 for any voluntary and community project that addresses the '5 ways to wellbeing'. The next deadline is Monday 13th November 2017.

12)   Free Funding Workshop at Links CVS

The workshop is to be held on Wednesday 13th September in Clay Cross.

13)   Funding for Disability Tennis Wheelchairs and Equipment – 1st September 2017

Grants of up to £1,500 are available for equipment and specialist wheelchairs to enable disabled people to play tennis. Individuals can apply for grants of up to £500.

14)   Sports equipment to enable talented young disabled athletes to participate in competitive sport

This fund provides a range of equipment giving young athletes the opportunity to develop their skills and progress in all types of sporting activities at local, national and international levels.

15)   Funding for bikes through Cyclist Fighting Cancer

Bikes are available to children and young people who have been diagnosed with any cancer up to and including the age of 18.

16)   Development Funding for Charities, Social Enterprises and CICs

To apply for grants of up to £30,000, organisations must register at the start of each funding round. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 29th August 2017.

17)   Comic Relief has launched a fund to engage older people aged 65 and over in volunteering

Grants of between £40,000 and £80,000 for up to three years’ work are available. The programme closes Tuesday 29th August. 

18)   Funding to Use Sport as a Tool for the Integration and Social Inclusion of Refugees – 18th August 2017

This European funding is to support proposals for projects that aim to use sport to support the integration of refugees into local communities. Grants are up to €60,000.

19)   The Government’s Life Chances Fund

A number of funding themes will be launched through this programme including ‘Young people – e.g. NEET prevention, youth unemployment and youth justice’.

20)   North East Derbyshire Golf Development Group awarded grant

The Group has successfully secured a Small Grants award of £10,000 from Sport England for developing golf in the North East region of Derbyshire.

21)   The Aviva Community Fund reopens for entries on 12 September 2017

This fund is good for clubs and groups which can rally a lot of votes.

22)   10 tips for fundraising around the £1 coin

This is an article suggesting some fundraising ideas before the old £1 coin disappears in October.
