Clubs must ensure that all of their teams playing organised football have adequate insurance in place. It is mandatory that these teams are covered by Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance.

Public Liability Insurance

Public Liability Insurance is available to purchase for the season through the affiliation. This can be selected as an additional product on the affiliation through the Whole Game System.

If you wish to source your own Public Liability Insurance, it must have a minimum of £10,000,000 worth of cover and must be presented to Derbyshire FA at the time of affiliation.

Personal Accident Insurance

Personal Accident Insurance must be sourced from a third party insurance provider and must meet certain minimum requirements as defined by The FA. This must be presented to Derbyshire FA at the time of affiliation and can either be submitted with the affiliation online or shortly after submitting the affiliation by email. You will not be able to complete the affiliation process without Derbyshire FA having evidence of your Personal Accident Insurance policy(ies).

Derbyshire FA recommend BlueFin for all of your Personal Accident Insurance needs. This can be purchased through their website, which meets the minimum requirements as defined by The FA. Evidence of this policy(ies) must then be submitted to Derbyshire FA for the approval of your affiliation.

What is the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS)?

In 2011, The FA set out to raise the standards of insurances that could be made available to its affiliated members, to enable access to a uniformity of cover across the grassroots game that hadn’t been seen before.

The overarching objective for the NGIS has been to ensure that insurance products, specifically tailored to the needs of grassroots football, could be made available to all.

In 2012, Bluefin Sport was appointed by The FA to deliver the NGIS.

The NGIS provides two core covers – Public Liability and Personal Accident.

It is compulsory for all affiliated clubs to have public liability insurance and all affiliated teams to have personal accident insurance.

When affiliating to Derbyshire FA via the Whole Game System, Clubs may choose to opt-in to the NGIS public liability insurance.

You can also opt-in to the NGIS personal accident insurance via your County FA affiliation, to meet the minimum cover required.

If you require a higher level of personal accident cover, this can be purchased from Bluefin Sport online, or by completing an application form and returning it to them in the post, with a cheque in remittance of the premium payable.

Clubs have the option to purchase the compulsory insurances either via the NGIS or elsewhere.
