Nike Partner Club Event at St George's Park

Enjoying one of the many benefits of being a Nike Partner Club, two of our Partner Clubs were offered the fantastic opportunity to play at St.…

From beginning to end, both teams received the luxury treatment and were made to feel like professional footballers. Having access to St. George’s Park’s world-class sports facilities, the teams changed in the England team's dressing room, and had a pre-match meal before taking to the England Squads training pitch for a pre-match warm up.

The match was played on the indoor 3G pitch and started at a great tempo with both sides creating multiple chances. Two great finishes from Nathan Gould saw Glossop Juniors up by 2 goals by the 32nd minute. Teversal managed to pull one back minutes later, after a short corner and a smart finish by Oliver Heighway. 2-1 the score as both teams went in at half time.

With Glossop Juniors focused on trying to extend their lead and Teversal looking to draw level, the game was played competitively but fairly, with the referees having little to do throughout the match. Just like the first, the second half was end to end as both teams created chance after chance. Glossop Juniors found a lot of space in midfield but the composure and positioning of the Teversal defence kept the Glossop Juniors striker at bay. Whenever Glossop Juniors did breach the defence, the Teversal goalkeeper was always on hand to make an excellent save which he did time and time again.

Teversal used the width of the pitch well to spread the Glossop Juniors defence and came closest with shots from outside the box which were just wide of the target. Neither side seemed to tire as the match came to the closing minutes but no goals in the 2nd half saw the game end 2-1 and Glossop Juniors the victors. Credit to both teams and the skills they put on display.

As a great gesture, we decided that both managers should pick a ‘Man of the Match’ from the opposing team. Teversal FC chose Lee McNamara as the Glossop Juniors Man of the Match and Glossop Juniors chose Luke Bacon as the Teversal Man of the Match.
