Derbyshire Sport Funding Update - October 2017

Here are the latest updates from Derbyshire Sport regarding funding schemes that are currently available to clubs, organisations and projects in...

1) Persimmon’s Healthy Communities Sport Programme

This fund supports amateur sport for young people. Until December 2017 Persimmon are giving away 30 monthly donations of £750 each to purchase sports kits and equipment for teams and individuals aged 21 and under. In January 2018, thirty entries will be chosen to go forward into their national competition with prizes between £5K and £200K available.

2) Police and Crime Commissioner - Community Action Grant

The next annual large grant round (up to £25K) closes Thursday 30th November 2017. The large and small grant programmes have funded a range of activities including supporting projects run by youth groups, sports clubs and local groups supporting the deaf community and young people with autism.

3) East Midlands Airport Community Fund – next deadline 10th November 2017

With grants up to £2K, this is a great little fund if your club or group is located in their catchment area (areas in the south of Derby / Derbyshire and towards the east of the county). They have funded kit and equipment for many clubs in their area.

4) Magic Little Grants Fund and FREE annual Localgiving membership

The deadline for this opportunity is Tuesday 31st October.

5) Crowdfund Derby

This crowdfunding platform provides the opportunity for clubs and groups working in Derby to top up the funding raised with a grant from the city council. An information session about how it all works will take place at Community Action on Monday 27th November.

6) Ron Pickering Memorial Fund

This fund provides support to young, talented, non-disabled or disabled Track and Field Athletes, aged 15-23 years. The fund will close on Thursday 19th November.

7) Foundation Derbyshire Comic Relief Fund – Core Strength Programme

This fund prioritises small, locally based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community and are undertaking actions to address these needs. Grants are between £1,000 and £5,000.

8) Health and Wellbeing 2017-18 Fund - closes 21st November 2017

This fund is for projects aimed at people who are supported to access non-medical services in the community. Examples include befriending, exercise classes and arts classes, but a wide variety of activities can be included. Applications up to £300,000 (in year 1) are being accepted from voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations.

9) Funding to Support Family Based Projects – closes 1st March 2018

Charities can apply for a grant of between £1K and £5K for activities that support and encourage the family to work as a cohesive unit in tackling problems that face one or more of its members. The fund welcomes applications from sports and health-related charities whose activities comply with the above criteria.

10) Crowdfunding Guides - Essential Reading for a Crowdfunding Campaign

Crowdfund Derby has produced some excellent guides on crowdfunding. Although Crowdfund Derby is targeted at organisations working in Derby, these crowdfunding guides are essential reading for anyone thinking about starting a crowdfunding campaign.

11) Play Tennis Fund

This scheme is aimed at supporting the tennis network establish projects to grow tennis participation. Grants are up to £5,000. The closing date for round one is Friday 3rd November 2017. Round two will close Saturday 3rd March 2018.

12) Facebook Announces the Launch of Fundraising Tools for Charitable Organisations

13) The Lord’s Taverners Bikes and Trikes programme for 2018

This is a new programme for 2018 which will provide grants towards bikes and trikes for special needs schools.

14) Central England Co-op Fund – next deadline 27th October 2017

The fund supports organisations such as sports clubs, community groups and schools with projects such as improving school playgrounds, sporting activities, building kitchen facilities and much more. Grants of between £100 and £5,000 are available if your project is within 5 miles of one of their branches.

15) Funding to enable a wider group of volunteers to give their time and skills

Grants between £50k and 75k are available over a 12-18 months period through the Nesta Connected Communities Innovation Fund. The deadline for the EOI is midday Monday 30th October 2017.

16) People’s Health Trust – Active Communities Funding coming soon to Derbyshire

A funding programme offering grants between £5,000 and £50,000 will soon be open in Derbyshire for small and local projects. A previous funding round helped fund a boxing project in Ripley.
