FA Coach Mentoring Programme Kicks Off

As the new season is fast approaching the Derby Junior Football League launched their FA Coach Mentoring Programme on Sunday 3rd September at Lees Brook Community School.

Throughout the 2017/18 season U7 & U8 coaches within the Derby Junior Football League have the opportunity to access two FA Coach Mentors, Earl Taylor and Pete Lansley, who delivered the first FA Coach Mentoring event that focused on “Match Day Warm Up’s/Arrival Activities”. The event attracted 20 coaches from the Derby Junior Football League who really enjoyed the first part of the programme.

The Derby Junior Football League are only the 2nd League in the whole Country to access FA Coach Mentors, which will benefit the league and also the coaches to help create a consistent approach as well as enabling the coaches to aid their development on their own coaching journey.

Derbyshire County FA and the Derby Junior Football League fully support this new venture and encourage the U7 & U8 coaches to attend future events, which will include the following:-

  • Match Day Behaviour.
  • In Possession.
  • Out of Possession.
  • Phases of play.
  • Transition – Formats 5v5, 7v7, 9v9.
  • Futsal.
  • Goalkeeping.
  • Managing Parents.
  • Level 1 / Level 2 Bridging Session.
  • Retreat Line – Playing out from the back.
