The application window to become an SSE FA Wildcats Centre opens tomorrow.

The opportunity to become an SSE FA Wildcats Centre and deliver fun football sessions for girls aged 5-11 years old is just around the corner, as the application window opens tomorrow!

Following the successful pilot of SSE Wildcats Centres across the country during the 2016/17 season, where 199 centres were created, the opportunity to apply to be part of the programme for the 2017/18 season will open shortly and will provide even more groups with a chance to grow girls’ football in their local area.

The application window opens on Friday 1st December and closes on Monday 8th January 2018.

The key facts of the SSE Wildcats programme are highlighted below:

  • SSE Wildcats Centres are weekly girls-only sessions for girls aged 5-11 years. The sessions are focused around fun, fitness and making friends.
  • Sessions will commence from the week beginning Monday 9th April 2018 and a minimum of 16 weekly sessions are expected to be delivered; however as high demand to be part of these sessions is anticipated, we encourage all applicants to plan with an intention of extending these sessions as a continual offering of girls’ football.
  • Funding and equipment is provided; however applicants who can demonstrate some match funding or ‘in-kind’ funding will be prioritised to ensure the investment goes into sustainable football opportunities.

The pilot phase saw grassroots clubs, educational institutes and professional club community trusts involved in the delivery of SSE Wildcats Centres. We will welcome applications from groups in all of these categories in addition to those outside these groups - to ensure Wildcats Centres meet all community needs and provide greater opportunities for girls to play football.
