Groundsman marking a football pitch

End of season groundsman workshop to be held at Derby County training ground

Following the success of previous events, the DCFA has organised an end-of-season workshop for grassroots football groundsmen in the county.

The workshop will be held on May 1st at Moor Farm, Derby County FC’s training ground, and it is being delivered in partnership with the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), Derby County FC, Rigby Taylor, and Charterhouse Turf Machinery.

This workshop is ideal for all grassroots groundsmen in Derbyshire who have the responsibility of maintaining and looking after their club’s pitches. The partnership with the IOG to deliver The FA’s Pitch Improvement Programme is continuing, which supports clubs and volunteers across the County.

It is also a fantastic opportunity to meet the Derby County FC grounds team and network with other grassroots groundsmen across the county.

The workshop will mainly focus on end of season pitch renovation, but will also include a tour of Moor Farm. A session on safe operations of machinery will be delivered by Richard Lucas from Charterhouse, whilst Mark Robinson from Rigby Taylor will discuss seed and fertiliser requirements for end of season renovation works.

The session will involve some indoor discussions/presentations and then some outdoor activities, so please come dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

Places for the workshop will be allocated on a first come first served basis and are available to groundsmen from Derbyshire County FA affiliated clubs.
