Safe Sid comic strip design competition for U18s

Young people across the county have the chance to win prizes by designing and submitting a comic strip of Derbyshire FA’s ‘Safe Sid’ mascot.

The competition, which begins on Monday 21st March 2022, is part of the Derbyshire FA’s continued engagement with U18s throughout the county.

The winning design will be turned into a professionally made comic strip and be used as a key component in the County FA’s safeguarding promotions.

The winner will receive a football shirt of their choice, and there will be lots of prizes given to runners up.

The club/school which the winner attends will also receive a £50 kit voucher.

 Entries must follow these rules/conditions:

  • Must be designed on this template (click to download)
  • Must include Derbyshire FA mascot ‘Safe Sid"
  • Must tell a story
  • Story must be football related
  • Avoid references to professional football clubs and players

To enter, draw your comic strip up on the template, which can be downloaded here, and submit a scan or photo of the finished design on the link at the bottom of the page.

The competition will run until Sunday 24th April.

Jenny Blewitt, Safeguarding and Equality Manager at the Derbyshire FA, said: “We’re very excited to announce this project as part of our continued work towards engaging with the county’s young people.

“We have been running competitions like this for a number of years now and each time we are presented with an enormous number of brilliant entries.

“To see these ideas come to fruition and turn into something tangible for us to promote safeguarding is extremely rewarding and we can’t wait to see the designs as they come in.”
