This Sunday (8th January 2023) sees the Derbyshire Women’s Cup, sponsored by Cawarden, kick off the quarter-final stages of the competition.
Each of the four games are incredibly exciting in their own way.
In what many would call the tie of the round, the two most impressive teams in the competition face each other in this enticing quarter-final tie.
Having played two games each, Ilkeston have scored an amazing 27 goals and Chesterfield have scored 28.
Ilkeston ran out 20-1 winners in Round 1 against Allenton Utd and 7-0 winners against Pride Park.
Chesterfield beat Hilton Harriers 14-0 in Round 1 and beat Belper Town by the same deficit in Round 2.
The hosts will be hoping the firepower of top scorer Daisy Allen (9 goals) will guide them to victory, but Chesterfield have a striker in form themselves, in Georgina Williams (7 goals).
A fixture with history. Derby County v Long Eaton has been the final of the Derbyshire Women’s Cup four times out of the last nine seasons.
Both teams enter the competition in this round.
An Erewash derby between two sides separated by only three miles.
Draycott received a buy in Round 1 and beat a difficult Wirksworth Colts side on penalties after a 3-3 draw in Round 2.
Sandiacre Town beat Borrowash Victoria 2-1 in Round 1 and received a buy in Round 2.
A tie between two exciting sides that are the last remaining teams in their Derbyshire districts: Amber Valley (the home sides namesake) and Derbyshire Dales (Ashbourne).
Amber Valley beat Mickleover 9-3 in Round 1 and received a buy in Round 2.
Ashbourne beat Belper Town Development 3-0 in Round 1 and received a buy in Round 2.
