The ESFA squad announcement includes young Derbyshire star Emily Walne

The England U15 Schoolgirls' Official Squad Announcement was made yesterday, and young Derbyshire star Emily Walne made the squad.

The ESFA concluded their search for the best schools’ footballers that England has to offer yesterday (Sunday 15th January) with the final England U15 Schoolgirls’ Pro:Direct trial taking place at Shrewsbury Sports Village. The successful girls progressed through a rigorous selection process from October until January to be finally selected to represent their country.

The players were first nominated by their county sides to attend regional trials that led to the construction of four regional squads, the North, Midlands, South East and South West. These squads then went head to head in step two of the trials process and formed the North and South squads that travelled to Shrewsbury yesterday for the final stage of the process.

Emily Walne, from Repton, Derbyshire, made the final squad, accomplishing a huge personal achievement and something she can be really proud of. The girls will first get together in February for their preparatory training camp.
