A few weeks ago, Mickleover Athletic FC tweeted a photo of local match official Terry Whittaker with the caption, "We were assigned 85 years young Terence Whittaker as linesman in todays game. He very proudly told us today was his 2082nd fixture and 67th consecutive season." The tweet received waves of attention of praise from all over, with over 10,000 likes and over one million views.
Terry Whittaker, from Shipley, Derbyshire, qualified as a referee in 1968 and went on to officiate at the highest level.
