DCFA Sunday Senior Cup Final: Newton George & Dragon FC vs Mutton FC
THE FINAL OF THE 2022/23 CAWARDEN DERBYSHIRE SUNDAY Senior CUP WILL BE Newton George & Dragon fc VS MUTTON FC.
The final is a clash between two Chesterfield and District Sunday League sides, with George & Dragon sitting in 1st place in Division One, and Mutton flying clear in 1st place in Division Three.
George & Dragon received a buy in Round One of the competition and beat Butchers Arms FC 2-1 in Round Two. Round Three saw a goal-fest, with the finalists thrashing Royal Oak Newhall FC 6-2. In the Quarter-Finals, George & Dragon won convincingly again, this time by 5-1 against Derby Allstars FC. They completed their route to the final with a 2-2 draw against The Three Horseshoes FC, which was decided on penalties.
Mutton progressed from Round One with a penalties victory against Langwith Whitestar, after a 2-2 draw. They then beat Brampton Moor Rovers FC 2-1 in Round Two. Round Three saw Mutton travel to Shirebrook Soldiers FC, where they came away with a 4-2 victory. In the Quarter-Finals, Mutton edged Field Lane FC by 1-0, before confirming their place in the final with a 3-0 Semi-Final win against Edge Hill FC.
The final will take place at Long Eaton United FC’s Grange Park on Sunday 23rd April 2023 (11:00 KO).
