Derby Singh Brothers 4-1 Holbrook St. Michaels

The last Derbyshire County Cup Final of the 2022/23 season saw Derby Singh Brothers be crowned Derbyshire Divisional Cup South Champions.

The Divisional Cup South final, sponsored by Cawarden, was held at Mickleover FC’s Don Amott Arena in front of a crowd of 226.

Just two minutes into the match, Singh Brothers took the lead. L’Varn Brandy glided down the right flank and delivered a cross into the area which was met by Raza Mughal who found the back of the net.

There was no respite for Holbrook as Brandy continued to cause problems for the side. Nine minutes into the game, he was brought down in the box. Referee Chris Hodson pointed to the spot; Brandy stepped up and confidently beat the keeper to double Singh Brothers lead.

Despite a better showing in the second half from Holbrook, they conceded a third goal after 68 minutes. Bhupinder Aiftan was the scorer for Singh Brothers, firing home from the edge of the box.

After 73 minutes, Singh Brothers scored their fourth; Powerful and pacey forward Bamoussa Cisse caused havoc for the defenders with his run and smashed the ball into the back of the net.

Holbrook did find a goal back after 85 minutes when Jorge Knowles got his head onto a teasing cross to guide it into the goal.

The final score was Derby Singh Brothers 4-1 Holbrook St. Michaels.
